Alert Iowa

Alert Iowa is the State of Iowa’s official emergency notification system. Through Alert Iowa, the City is able to utilize a single, statewide notification system that provides local control of how and when to disseminate emergency and public safety messages to residents.

Once you create your account, make sure you select to receive notification for the Windsor Heights Alerts notification list. This list will only send you Windsor Heights public safety and emergency alerts from the City. This is a very important tool we will use to get information straight to you. 

Updating Notification Preferences

If you signed up for Alert Iowa before June 2025, you will need to follow these steps to be added to the Windsor Heights Alerts notification list. This list will only send you Windsor Heights public safety and emergency alerts from the City. 

Update on a mobile browser

  1. Go to www.smart911.com and click on Sign In
  2. Enter in Login Information If you don’t remember this, select “Forgot User ID or Password?”
  3. Select the three horizontal lines in the upper left-hand corner
  4. Select Alerts
  5. Scroll down to select Windsor Heights Alerts and the alert types to receive
  6. Scroll down and hit the green Save button


Update on a desktop browser

  1. Go to www.smart911.com and select Sign In
  2. Enter in Login Information If you don’t remember this, select “Forgot User ID or Password?”
  3. Select Alerts
  4. Scroll down to select Windsor Heights Alerts and the alert types to receive
  5. Scroll down and hit the green Save button
