[ARCHIVED] 4/2/20 COVID-19 Update

April 2nd COVID-19 Update

The City of Windsor Heights continues to seek resources which help our community through these difficult times. We understand many of you are starting to feel more of a strain of the effects surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic and the related restrictions in place. We would like to take an opportunity to remind you about some valuable resources at your disposal to help you and your family through these trying times.

For those in need of financial assistance, advice, or options, you can contact the Polk County Financial Empowerment Center at 515-697-1450 or online at https://www.empowermoney.org/. You can also reach out to Iowa Legal Aid at 515-243-1193 or online at https://www.iowalegalaid.org/. For those needing advice or having questions about the Covid-19 virus, you can call 2-1-1 or you can visit the Polk County Health Department website located at https://www.polkcountyiowa.gov/health. A lot of great information is also posted on Polk County Health Department’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/PolkCoHealth and on the Polk County Health Department Facebook page, located at https://www.facebook.com/polkcohealth/. Mental health resources are also available by calling 2-1-1.

We want to remind everyone, if you have a medical emergency, call 9-1-1! 2-1-1 is a great resource for non-urgent questions and guidance, but 2-1-1 is not a replacement for emergency needs.

Also, tonight at 7 pm, the third Town Hall style meeting will be held focusing on mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic. This meeting will be live streamed on the ABC Channel 5 website (https://www.weareiowa.com/). This meeting will not be televised live over the airwaves but can be watched live on the www.weareiowa.com website.

We have heard from many in our community relaying the information we are putting out is valuable and many have expressed appreciation for our continued messaging related to the Covid-19 pandemic. We thank you for the supportive comments and our goal is to continue to provide timely, relevant updates to our community on a daily basis.
