[ARCHIVED] 4/1 COVID-19 Update

4/1 COVID-19 Update

With today being the first day of the month, the City of Windsor Heights wanted to share some resources for those who may be experiencing additional stress related to rent, mortgages, or bills coming due at the first of the month. The Polk County Financial Empowerment Center is a great resource to help navigate through conversations with your landlords, banks, or other creditors about flexibility in payments. The Polk County Financial Empowerment Center can be reached at (515) 697-1450. A second resource for those in need would include Iowa Legal Aid, and the phone number for Iowa Legal Aid is (515) 243-1193. Both of these organizations are staffed with professionals to help you explore options during this pandemic. You can find more information about the virus on the Polk County Health Department website and you can get more resource information by looking up SafeGuard Iowa online.

The City of Windsor Heights would also like to remind our community of two town hall style, televised meetings. The first meeting is tonight on Channel 13 from 7pm to 8pm and focuses on overall health related to the Covid-19 virus. The second meeting is tomorrow (Thursday, April 2, 2020) on Channel 5 from 7pm to 8pm and will focus on the mental health component of the Covid-19 pandemic. These are valuable, televised meetings to help keep you informed and we encourage everyone to watch the meetings.

Finally, please continue to take care of each other. The City of Windsor Heights would like to thank all of you for the compassionate acts you have shown over the past three weeks! Windsor Heights is a unique community in the heart of it all, and our community has certainly highlighted this in the compassion expressed for each other lately. We would also like to express our appreciation for all of the doctors, nurses, health care professionals and first responders working tirelessly to help those in need.
