2020 North Walnut Creek Streambank Stabilization

There are two locations on North Walnut Creek that are being stabilized as part of a grant through the NRCS. The projects are being done to protect the existing bike trail, storm sewer outfalls, and sanitary sewer infrastructure from being damaged from streambank issues. 

Work will take approximately two weeks. During the duration of the project, the trail will be closed from Hickman Road to University Avenue. Please contact djacobus@windsorheights if you have further questions about the project.

7/17/20 Update

The project is complete with restoration and seeding to begin in August or September. The trail is open.

7/10/20 Update

For the week of July 13th , the Contractor will finish working on the streambank restoration. All work will be at the north location. It is anticipated the trail will be opened during the week of July 13th. Take caution we trailing the trail, there will be equipment crossing it along with debris on the trail. It’s anticipated the project will be complete the week of July 13th, weather dependent.

7/2/20 Update

For the week of July 6th, the Contractor will continue working on the streambank restoration. All work will be at the north location. It is anticipated to be complete the week of July 13th. Take caution while using the trail and walk your bike through the area with the hazard sign as there may be debris along the trail. It’s anticipated the project will be complete the week of July 13th, weather dependent.

6/29/20 Update

The portion of our trail between University and Hickman is back open. However, there is about a 50 ft. stretch where riders will need to walk their bikes to avoid some small debris on the trail.

6/26/20 Update

For the week of June 29th, the Contractor will continue working on the streambank. The majority of the work is complete on the south location. Once the south location is complete, the contractor will start on the north location. The trail is closed and will remain closed through the duration of the project. Follow detour signs for the designated detour route. It’s anticipated the project will take approximately three weeks, weather dependent.

6/19/20 Update

For the week of June 22nd, the Contractor will begin working on the streambank. They have completed tree and brush removal. The trail is closed and will remain closed through the duration of the project. Follow detour signs for the designated detour route. It’s anticipated the project will take approximately three weeks, weather dependent.
