2018 Street Rehabilitation Project-HMA

Description

This project consists of rehabilitation of streets at various locations throughout the City of Windsor Heights, that includes approximately 13,000 feet (30 blocks) of hot mix asphalt (HMA) overlay along with concrete street patching.  The following streets are proposed to have HMA overlay:

  • 69th Street between Washington Avenue and Hickman Road
  • Northwest Drive between 69th Street and Franklin Avenue
  • Allison Avenue between 66th Street and 64th Street
  • 66th Street between south end and Lincoln Avenue
  • 66th Street between School Street and University Avenue
  • 70th Street between University Avenue and Colby Avenue

Project Status

  • The Contractor will begin work on April 30th: 
    • · Northwest Drive and 64th Street between 69th Street and Allison Avenue- Completed
    • · Allison Avenue between 66th Street and 64th Street- Completed 
    • · 66th Street between Lincoln Avenue and south end of the road- Completed
  • The Contractor will be pouring curb on Northwest Drive and 64th Street the week of May 21st.  The remaining streets on the project (66th Street, 69th Street, and 70th Street) are on hold until Des Moines Water Works complete their project which is the anode retrofit project more details are coming soon.

  • Those residents living in the work area received notices from the Contractor. They will begin by milling the streets (April 30th) and then place the new asphalt. The streets will be closed during paving operations. Cars will need to be removed from their home by 7:30 AM during the week. The streets will be opened at the end of the day. These times are weather dependent.
