June 1, 2009 REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING AGENDA
5:15 P.M. – City council chambers

1.            Call to Order/Roll Call/Pledge of Allegiance.

2.            Approval of the Agenda.

3.            Good of the Order.

4.            Approval of the Minutes:

·          May 18, 2009 City Council minutes both published and unabridged versions.

·          May 20, 2009 Special City Council minutes both published and unabridged versions.

5.            Public Comment.  This is an opportunity for any citizen to come forward and discuss any item that is not listed on the Agenda. (Please limit presentation from 2 to 5 minutes.) 

6.            Approval of the Consent Agenda.

 All items listed below are considered routine by the City Council and will be enacted by one motion.   There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a Council Member or citizen so requests, in which event the item will be removed from the Consent Agenda and considered after the other items listed on the Agenda.

(a)   Cigarette/Tobacco Permit for The Ridgemont

(b)  Cigarette/Tobacco Permit for Krueger BP Amoco

(c)   Cigarette/Tobacco Permit for Wine and Spirits Gallery

(d)  Cigarette/Tobacco Permit for Kum and Go

(e)  Cigarette/Tobacco Permit for Quik Trip

(f)   Progress Payment No 1 for the 68th Walnut Creek Dredging project in the amount of $114,527.35 to Peterson Contractors.

(g)  Claims and Payroll.

7.            Public Hearing and consideration of resolution authorizing use of power of eminent domain for the acquisition of 6336 Hickman Road.

8.            Consideration of Approval of Resolution Naming Official Depositories of the City of Windsor Heights

9.            Consideration of a resolution establishing a fee structure for properties being converted from owner-occupied to rental housing.

10.         Consideration of a resolution approving a contract with Grimes Asphalt for the resurfacing of 73rd Street for $737,123.50. 

11.         Consideration of a resolution approving a contract with Veenstra and Kimm for Construction Engineering Services in the amount of $37,850 for the 73rd Street resurfacing project.

12.         Consideration of a resolution awarding the Community Center Project to Prostuct Construction and authorizing the mayor to execute an agreement with Prostruct for the project in an amount not to exceed $1,600,000, pending legal counsel review. 

13.         Discussion and possible Consideration of a resolution approving a 28e agreement for the building and administration of the new fire training facility in Urbandale. 

14.         Council member comments.

15.         Mayor’s inquiries.

16.         Adjournment to closed session pursuant to 21.5c and 21.5j of the Code of Iowa.
