69th & Allison Construction

Project Overview

These two streets are being bid as one contract. There is extensive storm sewer installation occurring on Allison Avenue. A new water main is being installed on 69th Street from School Street to University Avenue. This project will begin in April or May and should be finished by the end of November. Both of the streets are having minor sanitary sewer repair work done while the street is under construction.

7/10/20 Update

69th Street Project

For the week of July 13th, MidAmerican Energy will finish installing a new gas main in Phase 1 and Phase 2 along with new services. Storm sewer and road work cannot begin until MidAmerican has completed their work. It anticipated that storm sewer work will begin the week of July 13th and be completed the week of July 27th. All phase of the project are delayed due to the gas conflict by 12 weeks. Installation of new water main will continue on Phase 2 (ending just north of Mott). The street will remain in place during this time but delays due to construction traffic may happen. The water main work will happen on the east side of the roadway under the sidewalk. Those residents will have no access to their driveway for the day and will be notified. Road grading will take place the week of July 27th. It is anticipated that residents can get in their driveways the week of August 10th . All work is weather dependent. Parking will switch to the west side of the street during this time. Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the contractor to pick up. Pickup times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time. The contractor maybe working on Saturdays through out the project to keep the project on schedule.

Allison Avenue Project

For the week of July 13th, Mid-American Energy will finish lowering gas services. The Contractor will begin roadway grading and placing rock for paving the week of July 20th. The week of July 27th street paving operations will begin. Driveway installation is anticipated to begin the week of July 27th and August 3rd and its anticipated that residents may start using their driveways the week of August 3rd. All work is weather dependent. Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the contractor to pick up. Pickup times are different for each item, so they may not be returned at the same time. Temporary mailboxes will be used until the street is open to traffic. Storm sewer and road work cannot begin until MidAmerican has completed their work. It is anticipated that storm sewer work will begin the week of July 13th and take approximately two weeks. All phase of the project are delayed due to the gas conflict. In order to keep the project moving, the new water main will be installed on Phase 2 (ending just north of Mott) the week of July 6th. The street will remain in place during this time but delays due to construction traffic may happen. The water main work will happen on the east side of the roadway under the sidewalk. Those residents will have no access to their driveway for the day and will be notified. Temporary gravel driveways will be placed after the water main moves past the driveway to allow access. Parking will switch to the west side of the street during this time. Please remember to place garbage, recycling and yard waste out at the end of your driveway by 5 PM Thursday for the contractor to pick up. MidAmerican Energy will begin installing a new gas main in Phase 1 and Phase 2. Storm sewer and road work cannot begin until MidAmerican has completed their work. This is anticipated to take approximately three weeks (weather permitting). They will need to access your home to relight pilot lights in appliances. Access into Colby Park parking lot may have delays at times, please plan extra time if entering or leaving the parking lot. Due to unforeseen gas conflicts, the project will be occur delays moving forward. Once the gas main the gas conflicts are resolved they will begin on the storm sewer installation, approximately beginning in early July. All phases of the project are delayed due to the gas conflict. The plan to get that intersection completed and opened back up in the coming weeks. MidAmerican Energy will begin installing a new gas main in Phase 1 and Phase 2 as well. This is anticipated to take approximately three weeks (weather permitting). Once the main is in, they will install new services. They will need to access your home to relight pilot lights in appliances. Access into Colby Park parking lot may have delays at times, please plan extra time if entering or leaving the parking lot. Due to unforeseen gas conflicts, the project will be occur delays moving forward. Once the gas main conflicts are resolved they will begin on the storm sewer installation, approximately the last week in June or early July. For the week of May 25th, the Contractor will begin work on storm sewer installation along with working at the intersection of School Street and 69th Street preparing the roadway for pavement. They will also be completing some water main work at the intersection along with installing the last water service on Phase 1. The plan to get that intersection completed and opened back up in the coming weeks. Due to unforeseen utility conflicts, the project will be occur some delays moving forward. After the week of May 25th, little work will be completed due to the conflicts. More will be shared with those residents once more information is obtained. Water outage to transfer your water service to the new water main requires the water to be shut off for approximately 30 – 60 minutes. You will be notified immediately before the work is done by a knock on your door by either the Contractor or DMWW. Please let the water run through the bathtub faucet or outside hose bib for two to three minutes once the water is turned back on. All work is weather dependent.

MidAmerican Energy will continue removing trees and will begin moving poles for storm sewer and street installation. Those property owners with tree removals have already been contacted. All work is weather dependent.
