The Windsor Heights Police Department participates in an online platform to keep our residents up to date on crimes occurring in the City. The web address for the platform is https://www.crimemapping.com/map/agency/558#.
Once at the website, users can view a map with pins identifying reports. By clicking on the pin, users can get more information about the type of case, case number, location, date and time of the report. Users can also filter reports by type, date, and location using filters on the left side of the screen.
A few things to keep in mind when using the platform:
Only those incidents requiring a written police report to be filed are listed, the map does not show every call for service handled by the Windsor Heights Police Department as many calls for service are handled without a written police report.
Some incident types, such as sex offenses, are not listed due to the nature of the complaint and the desire to protect the victim.
Incidents are only uploaded to the site after the report is complete, has been reviewed by a supervisor, and entered into our records management system. As such there may be a delay of 3 to 5 days for most reports. A longer delay may occur in some instances where cases are more complex or the time to get the case entered is delayed.
The platform does not pull motor vehicle accident reports. This is a limitation of the vendor who developed the platform.
The platform does not list traffic stops which do not result in an arrest or otherwise escalate to a written police report being filed.
